Finding the right Buick dealership to buy your next car or SUV may seem easy enough at first, but as soon as you start to dig around and look at your options, you might find it’s a bit more complicated than you expected. It’s easy enough to just pick a name from an internet search, but actually finding a good dealership that will treat you right and help you find the perfect vehicle is something else. Finding the right dealership is a big step toward having an enjoyable and productive experience when buying a car.

For too long, bad dealerships have given everyone else a bad name thanks to their aggressive sales tactics, deceptive practices, and disrespect of their customers. Finding a good Buick dealership means you won’t have to deal with any of those things and can just focus on finding exactly the right car or SUV. A basic internet search is a good place to start, but once you’re looking at dozens of different results, then it’s time to eliminate the bad choices and narrow down just what to look for.

#1 – A Well-Organized Website

These days most of us start our shopping online; even when you’re looking for something you plan to buy in person, the internet is a tremendous resource to start off with. The same is true when it comes to buying a car and looking for the right Buick dealership – start off with a web search and go from there. When you find websites for dealerships near you, check them out and the first thing you should pay attention to is how well organized the website is.

Think about it: a business’s website is part of how it makes the first impression on you – just like a storefront or dealership lot in real life makes a visual first impression when you arrive or enter. The website should make a strong first impression, which means you want to see that it is well organized and easy to use. Look for menus that make it simple to find any information you need, and navigation should be straightforward.

A cluttered or sparse website typically means you either have too much information available or too little, both of which can make it hard to find what you’re really looking for. It’s not about big graphics and flashy animations – it’s about ease of use and organization. The simpler a website for a Buick dealership is to use, the easier it will be for you to do everything else you need.

#2 – The Location

This may seem a bit obvious, but it’s not necessarily the first thing a lot of people look at when trying to find the right Buick dealership. Once you are at the website for the dealership, take a look at where it is located – not just the phone number but the actual location. You typically want to find a dealership that is close to you so that going there to buy a car, and handle any future business, will be as easy as possible.

You might think you only need to go there once to make a purchase, so location isn’t really that important. However, consider future issues and unexpected things that might come up. What if you need to take your vehicle back to the dealership for maintenance and repairs?

Or what if there is a recall and you need to take your car back to have a part replaced at their vehicle service center in order to keep your vehicle running safely? Sometimes you might need to make payments or go to the dealership again to handle issues with financing at some point in the future. All of these things will become more difficult if you go with a lot that is far away from you.

#3 – A Good Inventory of Used and New Vehicles

Once you pick a Buick dealership that is a reasonable distance from you and has a clean, easy-to-use website, now take a look at the inventory. This is part of why the website matters – a clunky website will make this difficult, if not downright impossible. A good website makes it easy for you to look at their full inventory: both used and pre-owned vehicles in a wide range of Buick models.

You’re not necessarily looking just at quantity here. More isn’t necessarily better when it comes to inventory. But you want to see that the Buick dealership has a good size inventory and, most importantly, you want to look for any particular model you are interested in. Look for specific trim or builds of the model you might want, so that you know that you’re probably going to find exactly what you’re looking for before you even visit the lot.

#4 – Information on Financing

Different Buick dealerships have different types of auto financing available, and what you’re looking for will probably depend a great deal on your own financial situation and credit history. With that in mind, however, you should still be able to find some financing information available on the dealership’s website. This can be as simple as an explanation of what kind of financing they offer, or as complex as tools that can help you get pre-qualified based on your income and credit report. Pre-qualifying tools can make it easier to focus on vehicles that you know you will probably qualify for, so you don’t fall in love with something that you cannot afford.

#5 – Thorough Contact Information

This is not typically something a lot of people think to look for, but it is important. When you check out a Buick dealership’s website, look for a “Contact Us” section and make sure it includes a lot of information. It’s simple enough right now just to find a basic toll-free number and call to find out directions or hours of operation.

But, if you need maintenance or need information about parts, then you want to see that there are phone numbers available for those specific departments at the dealership. You should be able to find the contact information you need before you ever visit the dealership. If it’s hard to get in touch with someone before you’ve even bought from them, that’s not a great sign for the future when they’ve already made a sale.

#6 – The Appearance of the Lot

Once you have everything figured out online, and it’s time to go to the dealership in person, then once again you’re looking for a good first impression. The appearance of a Buick dealership is very important – you want to find a location that looks professional, that is clean and well-lit in the evening. If the dealership doesn’t look professional, then that is a major red flag because it may indicate the level of professionalism from their staff and salespeople. You should feel comfortable when you drive onto a lot and the entire atmosphere should be welcoming.

#7 – Staff Attitude and Morale

The appearance of a Buick dealership is important, but so is the attitude and morale of the employees that you interact with. We all know what it’s like to have a bad day, so don’t be immediately put-off if you encounter someone who doesn’t seem quite as happy as you would hope. But the overall attitude of the employees in total should be positive – you want to see that people are generally happy to be at work. If people look upset or miserable, that usually means something is wrong with management and leadership, which is a sign you should buy your Buick elsewhere.
