As subcompact vehicles become more and more popular, two vehicles that have emerged as consumer favorites and are commonly compared are the 2019 Buick Encore vs 2019 Mini Countryman. These two vehicles are stylish, advanced, and offer superior handling compared to their competitors. But, which vehicle is the right choice for you?

The 2019 Buick Encore has become known for its luxurious interior and incredible standard features. While the Encore has always offered more standard features than many of its competitors, the most recent updates to this vehicle further enhanced the vehicle’s advanced technology. Onboard the base model of the Encore, drivers will find an 8-inch touchscreen display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, and more. The Encore is also home to numerous luxury features across its varying trim levels and can be customized to your exact preferences. In terms of safety and reliability, the 2019 Buick Encore performs at the very top of its class. And in the category of performance, the Encore offers more than enough power for city and highway driving, in a smooth and comfortable ride.

The 2019 Mini Countryman does not offer much on its base model but is the more expensive vehicle of the two. The base model of the Countryman lacks a touchscreen display, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, making it difficult to keep everyone onboard connected and entertained. However, the Countryman does offer more power and sportier handling than the 2019 Buick Encore. In terms of safety, the 2019 Mini Countryman offers a nice list of standard and available features, but the Encore offers more available options and received a high-reliability rating. The Encore also outshines the Countryman in terms of warranty coverage, which can be an important factor to consider in terms of your future budget for repairs.

Overall, the 2019 Buick Encore and 2019 Mini Countryman are excellent vehicles. Yet, the Encore simply offers more standard features at a much lower price and is the more luxurious and comfortable vehicle of the two. But, to determine if the 2019 Buick Encore or 2019 Mini Countryman is the best vehicle for you, we’ll take a closer look at what these two vehicles have to offer.

In terms of overall performance, drivers and critics note that the Encore offers quick acceleration when equipped with the turbocharged 1.4L 4-cylinder engine, and provides a smooth and comfortable ride even on bumpy roads and in difficult weather conditions. The performance of the 2019 Buick Encore makes it the ideal vehicle for daily commuters or small families and is suitable for long road trips given its responsive handling and comfortable interior.

    2019 Mini Countryman

The 2019 Mini Countryman offers several available engine options (all turbocharged), including its standard 1.5L 3-cylinder engine, a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine, and a 1.5L 3-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor for its plug-in hybrid model. The most powerful configuration of the Countryman allows for up to 228 hp. Meanwhile, the 2019 Mini Countryman is capable of fuel economy ratings of up to 23 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway when equipped with its manual transmission and front-wheel drive. The handling of the new Countryman is responsive and sporty, offering tight steering and enough weight for bendy roads and sharp turns. The interior of this Mini has been adapted for enhanced comfort, though many of the Countryman’s competitors, like the Encore, still offer a more plush and comfortable ride. While the 2019 Mini Countryman is designed to appeal to sporty drivers that want the everyday comfort of an SUV, drivers looking for the ultimate in comfort and plenty of performance will want to opt for the 2019 Buick Encore.

    2019 Mini Countryman

The 2019 Mini Countryman offers a 6.5-inch display, which lacks touchscreen capability, and Bluetooth. Unfortunately, that’s about all you’ll find on the base trim level for entertainment. Drivers looking for more advanced features will be forced to upgrade to a higher trim level on this already expensive subcompact SUV. However, upon upgrade entertainment features including an 8.8-inch touchscreen display, satellite radio, navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and wireless charging. While these are excellent features, many are included as standard on the Encore or are available at a much lower cost and paired with luxury features. The 2019 Mini Countryman has also received negative reviews for the control of its 6.5-inch display, which requires the use of a knob that is awkwardly placed for the driver. The 8.8-inch touchscreen display also utilizes the knob but can be controlled via the touchscreen instead, making it a little easier to control than the smaller display while driving. Overall, there are plenty options on both the Encore and Countryman, but still the 2019 Buick Encore offers a longer more advanced list of standard entertainment technology for much less, making it the ideal choice in this category.
