Although we do not yet have all the details on the upcoming 2021 GMC Canyon, what we know so far is definitely enough to get us excited. For years, the Canyon has been GMC’s midsize truck that delivers on fantastic performance and great luxury all in an impressively compact package. In years past, some of the different trim levels have been a bit difficult to sort through as GMC has updated and added onto what the Canyon can do. With the 2021 model, however, all of that will change as GMC has streamlined the trim levels on the Canyon so you can get just what you want.
It all starts with the Elevation Standard trim, which is the jumping-off point for the 2021 GMC Canyon. From there, you can choose the Elevation and even though the names are similar, going with the secondary trim will get you some great additional features and options. The real headline, however, is going to be the all-new AT4 trim level for the GMC Canyon, which offers you incredible off-road potential and performance. While there have always been some good off-road options for the Canyon, the new AT4 is redefining what you can expect from this truck.
Finally, the Denali remains the high watermark for the Canyon with unbeatable luxury and comfort options that you have to experience to truly appreciate. While we might not yet know how much the 2021 GMC Canyon is going to cost, it will probably start off pretty close to previous models and be what you would expect for a great midsize truck. Stay tuned and check back often for more details as we get them, or come visit us at Rick Hendrick Buick GMC Duluth to discuss the upcoming GMC lineup and find out more.
The 2021 GMC Canyon Elevation Standard is the jumping-off point for the newly updated midsize pickup and offers great standard features. While we might not know everything we would like to about what is on offer just yet, what we have seen so far is certainly impressive. We expect the standard engine will be a 2.5L I-4 much like it is right now, which offers great horsepower and torque to get you moving and handle a surprising amount of towing and payload. While more powerful engines are certainly going to be available, especially at higher trims, this is still a fine place to start.
The starting features on the Elevation Standard are likely to include 18-inch wheels and an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen. A six-way power adjustable driver’s seat will likely be available, along with gorgeous styling on the front grille, wheels, and throughout. In general, we expect a lot of the same great features that are available now on the starting trim of the current GMC Canyon will continue to be available going forward. The ways in which GMC will no-doubt add to them and make them even better, however, are still yet to fully be announced, but we will have more information as it is available.
A second Elevation trim level will also be available with the 2021 GMC Canyon, which will give you nicer features and touches throughout the interior and exterior. The same engine is likely to be standard on the Elevation, though a more powerful engine could be an option for this trim.
While many of the same great interior luxury and technology features will probably be standard between the Elevation Standard and the Elevation, it is likely that the Elevation will have more options for available upgrades. For example, GMC has announced the availability of an all-new High Elevation package for the Canyon that we have never seen before. This will include Jet Black leather-appointed seating, heated driver and front-passenger seats, power driver seat lumbar control, and a heated steering wheel. Combined with the gorgeous new details and design options on the 2021 Canyon in general, this is sure to be a very popular trim and package combination that will give you a great deal of luxury, while keeping the price in a very reasonable spot.
Although there is a lot to get excited about when it comes to the 2021 GMC Canyon in general, the all-new AT4 trim level is, perhaps, the single most impressive aspect of the new model. Off-road trims have been available in the past, of course, but the AT4 is a different kind of off-road trim with more impressive features and options than have ever been available before. GMC fans are going to be no stranger to the AT4 name, and seeing it on the updated Canyon will certainly be something to get excited about.
The exterior of the 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 will feature signature badging for this trim, along with a black chrome grille and grille surround, and red recovery hooks that make an immediate impression and illustrates from the very get-go that this is an off-road beast. Unique, 17-inch wheels are provided on the AT4, which are wrapped in 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires that offer incredible grip and control in even the toughest conditions. The standard engine on the AT4 is a 3.6L V6 that offers up to 308 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque; you can also choose an available 2.8L I-4 Duramax Turbo-Diesel that delivers up to 181 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque for incredible performance.
These great off-road features are enhanced by an automatic locking rear differential for improved traction and advanced hill descent control for dealing with rough downhill conditions. An off-road suspension, four-wheel drive, and a transfer case shield also improve off-road performance and help protect your vehicle in rocky conditions. Inside, an available wireless charging pad and available leather-appointed seating make for a surprisingly luxurious ride no matter where you take the 2021 GMC Canyon AT4. All of these features come together in a fantastic way to demonstrate why the Canyon AT4 is the future of GMC’s off-road lineup.
While the new AT4 trim for the 2021 GMC Canyon may be getting most of the attention right now – and we understand why – it is still worth pointing out that the real star of the show will continue to be the incredibly luxurious Denali trim. For years now, the name “Denali” has been shorthand for some of the most sophisticated and advanced features available on a pickup, and that is not about to change any time soon. The GMC Canyon Denali will offer the finest combination of luxury features and great technology options, with two powerful engines to choose from that will deliver a fantastic ride.
An updated chrome grille that will be exclusive to the Denali trim will certainly turn heads, while body-color front and rear bumper and LED fog lamps not only look amazing but will provide great functionality too. A new exterior color, Hunter Metallic, is being introduced for the 2021 model and is exclusive to the rich Denali trim. Interior features have also been improved and demonstrate the kind of luxury you would expect from this trim level. An 8-inch Infotainment display will be standard, along with a Bose premium audio system for incredible sound quality, and a wireless charging pad.
In terms of performance, the 2021 GMC Canyon Denali will come with the 3.6L V6 engine standard, much like the off-road focused AT4 trim. The 2.8L I-4 Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine will also be available on the Denali, which means you can get an incredible level of performance and power wrapped in the luxurious details and sophisticated touches that you would expect from a Denali. With so little revealed about the updated 2021 GMC Canyon, however, we are sure to be surprised and impressed by even more great features in the Denali as more details are released.
