It’s almost unprecedented that SUVs are as popular as they are, but in many ways, it makes complete sense as well. Even compact versions are ramping up the heat in the SUV market. But which compact SUV is the best? Only a comparison of the 2021 Buick Encore vs 2021 Chevy Trax can answer that question.
Buick and Chevrolet are both household names in the market today, and their subcompacts are no exception. Since both the Encore and Trax come from the same parent company, it’s very common to see similar parts used in their vehicles. Since it’s the same engine as the Encore, you get the same 138 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque, also paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
With the same engines, you can expect the same kind of performance out of both vehicles. Overall, there’s no clear winner between the two, and the driving experience should be very similar. Even the dimensions of the vehicles are almost interchangeable. Each of the models on both vehicles weighs a little over 3,000 lbs, and the wheelbases are exactly the same at 100.6 inches. The interior of the 2021 Chevy Trax is similar to the 2021 Buick Encore, although it has a few key differences. The two displays are significantly smaller, including the 3.5-inch driver information center and the 7-inch Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System diagonal color touchscreen. However, the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System still has certain capabilities, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and voice command pass-through for compatible phones. You also get hotspot capabilities, as well as OnStar and Chevrolet Connected Services capabilities.
Overall, the interior features are similar on both vehicles, but the Buick brand is known for its upscale features. While the features are similar, Buick is still trying to provide a heightened ride experience with features like the larger displays that offer a little more accessibility to all of the car's available programming.
